Activated Liquid Zeolite (Clinoptilolite) Explained

Activated Liquid Zeolite (Clinoptilolite) Explained

In research published in Nutrition and Dietary Supplements, 2009, Flowers et al describe activated liquid zeoilite (clinoptilolite) as a “naturally occurring mineral that is known to have unique qualities that might make it an attractive alternative to currently available chelating agents for the removal of heavy metals from blood, tissue and adipose stores”[1].

(For the non technical amongst us, chelation therapy is a process that uses binding agents to draw wastes and toxic metals out of the bloodstream and tissues, however, it unfortunately takes the good with the bad).

The zeolite mineral has a lattice or honeycomb like structure which has a negative charge (minus 2).  This research has shown that metal ions have a strong affinity to the clinoptilolite lattice.  What this means in a simplier language is that the negative charge of the zeolite mineral attracts and captures the positively charged metal ions inside its honeycomb structure.  “In fact, numerous studies have shown that the affinity of clinoptilolite is quite high for some of the most toxic heavy metals”.[1]

Hair analysis tests suggest that, unlike conventional chelation therapy, activated liquid zeolite may not remove essential nutrients from the body along with the heavy metals and toxins.  Dr Rik Deitsch, on a recent international conference call, anecdotally suggested that activated liquid zeolite might in fact transport essential nutrients around the body.  An article describing these hair analysis results will be available shortly on this site called “Hair and There”.

The research goes on to say that “clinoptilolite can be fed to animals with beneficial effects” which “occur in the absence of any side effects, even with long-term zeolite supplementation”.[1]  It also suggests that “an increase in the excretion of heavy metals in subjects who consume clinoptilolite would be an indication that the natural chelating properties of this negatively charged mineral might have clinical applications in cases of metal accumulation and toxicity”[1].

In summary, activated liquid zeolite:

  • Increases energy levels and immune function because of its secondary effect of taking out the toxic minerals, pesticides and herbicides
  • Removes lead, mercury and other dangerous heavy metals from the body
  • Promotes a sense of well being, clarity, peace and happiness due to the detoxification but primarily according to preliminary research that it increases serotonin.
  • Improves liver function
  • Improves vital nutrient absorption.[2]

Direct Benefits

  • Improved health and vitality
  • Removal of toxins and heavy metals that have been shown to cause cancer and other debilitating conditions
  • Bathroom regularity
  • Possible reduction in allergies, migraines, and asthma.[2]
